Location
Johannesburg International Airport is located 24 km (15 miles) northeast of the city. From the city center the airport is reached by the R24 road. From Pretoria, South Africa's administrative capital, take the R21. The airport is clearly signposted on these roads.

Public Transport
Shuttles, buses, minibuses and taxis connect the airport with the metro area. Most of the hotels offer a shuttle service for guests arriving from international flights. Private companies offer daily bus service to transport passengers from the airport to downtown and suburban areas. In addition, several bus companies run from the airport to Johannesburg. Magic Bus (Tel. +27 (0) 11 394 6902) provides the bus service and has its office is on ground floor of the domestic terminal; and Luxliner (Tel. +27 (0) 11 855 7865) links the airport with Durban city (three times a day). Taxi ranks are at the exit of the airport terminals. Be sure to take a oficial cab (Journey time to Johannesburg city center: ranges between 30 to 40 minutes).

There are car rental desks from the most recognized companies (Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Thrifty, First Rent a car, Khaya, National Alamo, Sizwe, Sixt and Tempest). Hire a car




The airport provides banks, ATMs, currency exchange, post office, mobile phone rental, public telephones and internet Wi-Fi, vip lounges, conference and meetings rooms (up to 120 people).
Food and Drinks - several cafes, restaurants, bars and fast food.
Shopping - shops, souvenir items, jewelry, various retail shops and duty free, newspapers and tobacconist.
Baggage - left luggage and porter service.
Other Services - pharmacy and medical clinic 24 hours on the second floor, chapel, prayer room for Muslims, children's playroom and baby changing facilities. There are information desks in all terminals.

Disabled Facilities - ramps, lifts, wheelchairs, bathrooms and other amenities for passengers with disabilities and the elderly. For passengers requiring special assistance, it is recommended to coordinate this in advance through the travel agency or the airline concerned.

Parking - several parking lots for long and short stays. A free shuttle is available 24 hours, gives the ride between terminals and the remote parking lots. Rates for short-term car park: $10 Rand (USD 1.25 dollars) per hour, $20 Rand (USD 2.45) four hours and $100 Rand (USD 12.25) per day; rates for long-term car park: $45 Rand (USD 5.50) per day. There are parking spaces reserved for disabled people who have direct access to the terminals. Valet Parking is available as well.
