Rome's international airport, Leonardo da Vinci, better known as Fiumicino is the busiest in Italy and one of the most visited in Europe. It operates across Europe, Middle East, China, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Caribbean, North and South America, among other destinations. Around 37.65 million passengers passed through it in 2011. Location
The Leonardo da Vinci International Airport is located in Fiumicino, 26 km (16 miles) southwest of central Rome.

Number of Terminals -
3 - A free shuttle connects the terminals with the long-term parking lot.

Public Transport
Buses, trains and taxis connect the airport with the metropolitan area. Every half hour the Leonardo express train departs to/from Termini central station (jorney time: 30 minutes) and costs 14 euros each way. The Sabina-Fiumicino line (FR1) is another train service cheaper (8 euros) but slower with stops at Tiburtina, Tuscolana, Ostiense, Trastevere with a frequency of 15 minutes on weekdays, and 30 minutes holidays and weekends.
There are several bus companies also offering shuttle services to connect the airport terminals with the city.
COTRAL company (Tel. 800 174 471) stops are in front of Terminal 2 in the arrivals area and in the city: Piazza dei Cinquecento (in front of Museo Nazionale Romano), Roma Tiburtina Station, Cornelia Station (metro line A) and Eur-Magliana station (line B). The journey time is 1 hour and tickets can be purchased on the bus (ticket fare: €4,50).
Terravision
(Tel. +39 06 97610632): the stop is adjacent to the exits from Terminal 3 at Arrivals level and in the city stops in Termini (via Marsala). It runs every 30 minutes and the jorney time is 55 minutes. Tickets can be purchased on-line or on the bus (ticket fare: €9).
Shiaffini
stop is in the arrivals level near the exits from Terminal 3 and in Termini. Tickets can be purchased on-line, directly on the bus or in Terminal 3.
Autonoleggio Tirreno
stops in the arrivals level adjacent to the exits from Terminal 3 and in Rome stops at Ostiense Station - Piazzale Partigiani. Tickets can be purchased on the bus and the journey takes approximately 45 min.
Sit Bus Shuttle
stops in the arrivals level, next to the exits from Terminal 3 and in Rome the stop is at Termini Station (via Marsala). Buses run every 30 minutes and tickets can be purchased on-line or on the bus. The journey takes approximately 55 min (ticket fare ranges between €5 and €10).
TAM SRL (Tel. 06 65047426) has its stop in the arrivals area, close to the exit doors of Terminal 3 and in Roma the stops are in Ostiense station and Piazzale Partigiani. The bus departs every 30 minutes and the ticket can be purchased on-line or on the bus. Journey time 45 minutes (ticket fare: €5).
The taxi ranks are outside the terminals and and for security reasons, it is recommended to take licensed taxis with meters (Taxi fares: Ostiense station €45, Aurelian Walls €48, Tiburtina station €55, Civitavecchia Harbor €120, Castillo Magliana €30, New Rome Fair €25 and Ciampino airport €50).

Facilities and Services
There are car rental desks from the most recognized companies in the arrivals hall of the domestic and international terminals (Auto Europa, Avis, Budget, Easycar, Locauto, Europcar, Hertz, Italy by Car, Maggiore and Sixt). Hire a car




The airport also provides banks, ATMs, currency exchange offices, post offices, public phones and Wi-Fi. The business center is the Atahotel Executive Centre with waiting and meeting rooms, offices, all equipped.
Food and Drinks - restaurants, cafes and bars located throughout the grounds.
Shopping - There are also several shops, including duty free, souvenirs, perfumes, jewelry, newspapers and tobacconist, among others.
Baggage - Left luggage on the ground floor, arrivals level of the international terminal (tel: (06) 6595 3541). Lost and Found office (tel: (06) 6595 5253) and porter service are also available.
Other Services - 24-hour first aid center, nursing, chapel, smoking room, among other facilities. There are information booths in all the terminals, and interactive screans located throughout the airport.

Disabled Facilities - ramps and toilets, among other services. For passengers requiring wheelchair or other special needs is recommended to coordinate in advance with your airline or travel agency.

Parking - Rome-Fiumicino airport has more than 4,000 parking places, 2,000 covered and 2,000 outdoors. There are long-term covered, short-term, executive and motorcycles parking spaces within the multi-storey car park. All those parking lots are directly connected to the terminals by pedestrian walkways. There is also a free shuttle service between the terminal and parking areas every 10 minutes between 6 am and 6 pm and every 20 minutes from 6pm to 1:30 am and 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.. Between 1:30 am and 4 am, the service operates on request, by intercom. Parking fees: short-term car park: €5 hourly, €50 daily and €350 weekly; long-term car park: €18 daily and €69 weekly. There are spaces reserved for disabled people. The uncovered parking lot is just a 10 minute shuttle ride to the airport Terminals and can be reached directly from the Roma-Fiumicino (A91) highway.

Accomodation - Hilton Airport Hotel is inside the airport terminals joined by walkways. In addition, there are several hotels adjacent to the Leonardo da Vinci airport such as the Golden Tulip Hotel (2 miles away from the terminal building).
