Puerto Vallarta International Airport is one of the busiest in Mexico, and it serves the region of Jalisco. It operates domestic and international flights, mainly from the United States and Canada. About 2.54 million passengers passed through it in 2011. Volaris, Interjet, WestJet, Aeromexico, Frontier Airlines, Delta Air Lines, British Airways, American Airlines, US Airways, Alaska Airlines, Air France are some of the airline companies operating at the terminal complex.

Buses, minibuses and taxis connect the airport with the metro area.
