Darwin Airport is one of the most important in Australia. It operates with a wide range of domestic flights and some international ones, such as Singapore and Indonesia, among others. Around 1.74 million passengers transited through it during 2011. Jetstar Airways, AirAsia and Virgin Blue are some of the low cost airlines operating at the airport.

Darwin International Airport is located 13 km (8 miles) northeast of Darwin.

Public Transport
Express buses, door to door vans and taxis connect the airport with the metro area. A shuttle bus service runs from the airport to different hotels and parts of the city, with a journey time of approximately 15 minutes, plus the time for loading and unloading of passengers. There is also a public bus service leaving from the airport towards the city centre (ticket rate: $2 australian dollars). Taxi's journey time to downtown is 20 minutes and stops are located opposite the terminal. Cab airport service is provided by City Radio Taxis (tel 61 (8) 8981 3777), Darwin Radio Taxis (tel 131 008) and People Movers NT (tel 61 (8) 8983 2111). The fee to the city center is about $30 australian dollars. Luxury cars and limousines are available for hire.

Disabled Facilities - ramps, lifts, asistance for guide dogs, disabled toilets and adapted telephones. For passengers with special needs (eg wheelchair) is recommended prior arrangement with your airline or travel agency.

Parking - Darwin Airport has parking areas for short and long term located directly opposite the terminal building. Parking rates: short-term $5 australian dollars per hour, $10 / 5 hours and $20 daily; long-term $14 daily. There are spaces reserved for disabled travelers.

Accomodation - There are no hotels within the grounds but 350 meters away is located the 4-star Darwin Airport Resort, offering free airport shuttle bus. The 4-star Darwin Airport Inn, is located only 250 meters with free shuttle service.
