Christchurch Airport is one of the busiest in New Zealand. It receives a wide range of domestic and some international flights, from the main points of Australia, neighboring countries, and some destinations from Middle Eastern. About 5.59 million passengers transited through it in 2011. Pacific Blue, AirAsia and Jetstar Airways are low cost airlines operating at the airport.

Location
Christchurch International Airport is located 12 km (7.5 miles) northwest of the city.

Number of Terminals - 2 - one domestic and one international and are connected together.

Public Transport
Buses, shuttles and taxis connect the airport with the urban area. Three public buses run towards Christchurch city centre; bus line 3 to Vonhead and Riccarton, line 10 to Merivale and line 29 to Fendalton (ticket fare: $2.50 NZD - $1,97 USD). In addition there are shuttles departing to hotels. Taxi ride to downtown takes between 15 to 20 minutes (Corporate Cabs (Tel. (03) 379 5888), Blue Star (Tel. (03) 379 9799) and Green Cabs (Tel. 0508 447 336). Taxi ranks are located in the domestic area, between the terminal and the multi-storey garage, and in the international zone on the northern exit of the arrivals hall between the terminal and the parking of long stays. Taxi fare to Christchurch city center ranges between $45 and $60 NZD ($35 y $47 USD.

Christchurch Airport has automated teller machines (ATM), banking and foreign exchange, public telephones and internet Wi-Fi. For business and diplomatic activities there are conference and meeting rooms, all equipped, vip lounges, among others.
Food and Drinks - bars, cafes and restaurants scattered throughout the airport.
Shopping - retail shops, including duty free located on both the arrivals and departures level of the International terminal, souvenirs, newspapers and tobacconist, among others.
Baggage - Lost and found (tel: (03) 353 7774). Left luggage in the domestic terminal, next to the information center. Baggage carts are within the grounds, and available in both terminals.
Other Services - hairdresser, florist, pharmacy, children's playground, among other facilities. In turn, there is a general information and tourism center (+64 (3) 353 7774) in both terminals.

Disabled Facilities - ramps, lifts, disabled toilets, automatic doors, ATM machines with Braille signs, among other services. Wheelchairs are available (booking and coordination with your airline or travel agency in advance)

Parking - Christchurch Airport has three parking lots, a multi-storey car-park, and two open-air car parks, the closest to campus is for short-term and handicapped parking and the area remaining for longer stays. The first 10 minutes are free, then: $5 NZD ($4 USD) per hour, $25 NZD ($20 USD) per day and $75 NZD ($60 USD) per week.
