Galećo International Airport is the most important one of the Rio de Janeiro area and together with Sao Paulo Guarulhos are the busiest in terms of international flights. The airport is located 20 km (13 miles) north of Rio de Janeiro
Number of Terminals - 2 - terminals are within walking distance via conveyor belts.
Public Transport
Public buses, shuttles and taxis connect the airport with the downtown area. (Journey time: 30 to 40 minutes). The Real company (Tel. 0800 240 850) has shuttle buses running every hour to the major hotels and beaches and every 30 minutes there is a public bus service that goes to the city center. Some taxi companies authorized to operate on campus are: Aerotaxi, Aerocoop, Coopatur, Cootramano, Coopertramo, Transcopass, Transcootur, among others. Taxi ranks are at the exit of the airport terminals. The cost of this service is controlled by a meter and the journey time between the airport and the city centre or south of Rio de Janeiro ranges between 30 and 45 minutes.

Rio Galeao Airport also offers banks (terminal 1), ATMs, currency exchange service, post office, VIP lounges, public telephones and free internet Wi-Fi in the boarding area, among other facilities. The conference service is provided at the Luxor hotel located within the enclosure.
Food and Drinks - restaurants, fast food, cafes and bars in Terminals 1 and 2.
Shopping - souvenirs, various shops and duty free shops in terminals 1 and 2, press and tobacconist, perfume, shoes, toys, among others.

travel agencies, pharmacy, 24-hour medical center, baby changing facilities. Each terminal has information desk and there are computers information located throughout the campus. In turn, there is a tourist information center.
Disabled Facilities - The airport has lifts, automatic doors, adapted toilets and telephones for the disabled. For those passengers requiring special assistance is recommended prior coordination with the airline or travel agency.
Parking - There is a parking garage and several open air car parks that can be used either for short or long-term. The total capacity is around 4300 vehicles. There are spaces reserved for disabled people. For further information call 55 (21) 3398 2142.
Accomodation - Luxor Hotel is within the enclosure (level 3 of Terminal 1) and has a conference room. Also at the same terminal but at level 1 the Pousada do Galećo is located.
